But two things you need to know if you want me to drop a rig there. First, Fort Wilderness has site-class rules and length limits that vary by loop, so the rig you pick has to match your reservation — I’ve had folks book a premium site expecting to fit a big Class A and the back-in angle on some of the older loops is genuinely tight. Tell me your exact loop and site number and I’ll match the right unit to it. Second, for Food & Wine season you reserve the Fort Wilderness site yourself directly through Disney as early as you can, then I handle the RV. The campground sells out fastest on Festival weekends, so lock the site before you worry about anything else.

Off-property options if Fort Wilderness is full

When Disney’s campground is gone — and during October it usually is — I steer people to parks within an easy I-4 run to Epcot:

• Wekiwa Springs State Park Campground (Apopka) — my go-to for folks who want real Florida nature between park days. It’s a state-park experience with spring swimming, roughly a 35–45 minute drive down to the Disney area depending on I-4 traffic. Book through Florida State Parks early; the cooler October weekends move fast.
• Moss Park (Orange County) — quieter, lakeside, and closer in on the south/east side. Good if you want a calmer base.
• Twelve Oaks RV Resort (Fruitland Park) and Sanlan RV & Golf Resort (Lakeland) — full-hookup resort-style parks if you’d rather have pool, laundry, and easy pull-throughs. A bit farther out but reliable when everything closer is booked.

The weather you’re actually packing for

Festival runs July through November, and the weather changes a lot across that window. July through September is hot, humid, and almost guaranteed an afternoon thunderstorm — I tell people the AC and a covered awning aren’t luxuries those months, they’re the whole point of having the rig. By late October and into November it finally cools off into the most pleasant time to be walking World Showcase, sometimes downright crisp at night.
